Dessert Advisor’s Editorial Guidelines

Are you a pastry chef, food critic, cookbook author, owner of a bakery, fellow blogger, or basically an expert dessert wordsmith? Well, we’re pleased to announce that Dessert Advisor is open to content from guest contributors! Please read the following Dessert Advisor editorial guidelines before submission.

Under the umbrella of content we accept:

  • Blog posts (400-600 words)
  • Videos (up to 5 min each)
  • Podcasts (up to 20 min each)
  • Dessert/Baked goods photos (up to 8MB each)

Keep in mind our audience is comprised of people who are passionate about desserts and baking. They are looking to learn what experts in the field have to say about desserts, baked goods, and snacks.

Here are just a few examples that would be of interest to our readership:

  • New trends and innovative baked goods/desserts
  • Opinion pieces on your favourite dessert
  • Short professional demos that would show a brief how-to, explain a baking technique, teach how to use special tools, etc.
  • A brief interview with an industry leader
  • Research and statistics about the dessert/baked goods industry

We ask that your content submission include:

  • Your name, short bio, and full contact information, plus any links to previously published work
  • Brief paragraph to explain why your content is relevant to our site
  • Content piece

  • Must be original, authentic, and engaging - we do not accept content that has already been published in another publication!
  • You must hold the creative rights for the content
  • Cannot be self-promoting
  • External hyperlinks will only be considered if added value deems it necessary
  • Must include a visual component. For example, if you contribute a podcast, please consider contributing a related photo.
  • No room for aggressive/insulting language, plagiarism, bullying, and law-breaking
  • Content sharing is part of establishing your authority within our community. Thus, apart from our internal writers, we usually do not offer compensation for it.

If you’re not sure if your piece will be accepted according to the Dessert Advisor editorial guidelines, feel free to pitch your suggestion with any accompanying images in a word document, plus a few bullet points to describe the outline of the topic. We’re happy to review your submission and will generally get back to you within 7-10 business days (if we are interested).

We may edit your submission before publishing it, and we will be sure to let you know ahead of time if and when your content is scheduled to be published.

Sounds good? Our editorial team would love to hear from you in an email. Or if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
