Peanut Butter Desserts Approved by Charlie Brown
Think of peanut butter desserts. Personally, we think of creamy peanut butter bars, crunchy peanut brittle, and a myriad of other peanut-based treats. Many are inspired by the ever popular Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Considering peanuts a little more, your mind might wander to the popular Charles M. Schulz comic strip. Yes, the one with the main character of Charlie Brown. He is sometimes awkward and lacking confidence. But, you can bet your bottom dollar he wouldn’t hesitate to order one of these sweet peanut desserts to celebrate National Peanut Day with his friends!

Snoopy and Woodstock
Of course the first guest Charlie Brown would consider would be his beagle, Snoopy, and his best friend, Woodstock. Independent and prone to daydreaming, Snoopy would be drawn to the Peanut Day Party with something that doesn’t contain chocolate. Because we all know chocolate is bad for dogs! It’d be wise for Charlie Brown to order an express delivery of Vancouver’s Elvis flavoured ice cream from the Innocent Ice Cream Parlour… It’s both vegan and gluten-free with the combination of peanut butter cookies and banana pudding. Surely, Woodstock would peep with satisfaction and Snoopy would do his happy dance in Elvis-style!
Linus
The next character Charlie Brown would have to cater to is his blanket carrying best friend, Linus van Pelt. Linus, the house intellectual, might see Snoopy and Woodstock’s ice cream and, feeling a little insecure, secretly crave something cold and refreshing for himself. Anticipating this and thus saving the day, he’d find Charlie Brown had ordered him his very own tub of the Chocolate Caramel Peanut Butter vegan ice cream from Saint John’s Bella’s Traditional Ice Cream. Seeing Linus enjoy it so much, Sally is sure to love this as well. Small batch, homemade ice cream using dairy from local Maritime farmers, what could be better?
Peppermint Patty and Marcie
Well, according to Peppermint Patty and Marcie, complete opposites but complete best friends, they’d be quite content with some Peanut Butter Crunch Brownies from Regina’s City Queen Cakes, and some impossibly cute and ultra-creamy Peanut Butter Daisies from Purdys Chocolates. Made with sustainable cocoa, Marcie would approve of the sound ethical flowers and Peppermint Patty would most likely pitch some no hitters!
Lucy and Schroeder
But what about Lucy and Schroeder? Charlie Brown would do well to provide something small for Schroeder to quickly place in his mouth and free up his hands itching to tinker away on his toy piano. Yes, the ultimate Schroeder treat has to be some PB&J bon-bons from The Chocolate Lab in Calgary. With raspberry, caramel, roasted peanuts, house made peanut praline, and peanut ‘duja, these colourful gems might even quieten the bossy Lucy for a moment or two.
Franklin and Pig-Pen
Finally, this just leaves the quiet and confident Franklin, and the dust-magnet Pig-Pen. Both boys would surely smile ear to ear with the sweet and salty, award-winning Salted Peanut Butter Chocolates from Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut. This treat is creamy and satisfying with the chocolaterie’s milk chocolate, natural peanut butter, and a touch of sea salt. It might actually draw the other Peanut characters around to experience it as well!
